Enjoy the Blaq Ice Experience: King of Spoken Word Poetry and Father of the Chicago Poet Laureate
The LEGENDS OF CHICAGO HIP HOP MOVEMENT was created in 2012 by De'Andre Hawthorne AKA King Of Poetry Blaq Ice, one of the Legendary Chicago rappers, formerly known as Ice Cold The Ultimate Warrior. The idea was inspired from his P.O.E.T Movement, which is an artist/activist movement dedicated to using it's art for activism work.
Blaq Ice would share his idea with his big brother in Hip Hop JMD aka Mr. Club Banga and found out that he was thinking of a similar idea.
They would soon collaborate and become co-founders of the LEGENDS OF CHICAGO HIP HOP MOVEMENT.
The Legends of Chicago Hip Hop encompass a diverse array of artists, including rappers, DJs, dancers, graffiti artists, and poets. This movement is divided into three groups:
Together, these groups represent the rich history and evolution of the Chicago Hip Hop scene.
Our mission is to archive the history of Chicago Hip Hop while saving the youth by teaching them a better way to express themselves through art as an alternative to violence.
